Due to an increase in teaching commitments I am taking a break from assessments moving forward. Unfortunately I do not have the time to carry them out as I am fully booked Monday- Friday in schools across Ashford and Folkestone. If you would like to go on a waiting list for lessons please email me to discuss your needs.

Natalie is available for full dyslexia assessments. Natalie holds AMBDA and APC which are known as the ‘gold standard’ of dyslexia qualifications and allows her to diagnose SpLD dyslexia.

The assessment is made up of a series of standardised tests that highlight your child’s strengths and weaknesses. A full cognitive profile of your child is put together from the results, their learning history and observations made. Areas covered are visual and verbal abilities, phonological awareness, working memory, reading, writing, spelling, handwriting and processing speed.

Diagnosis is the first step towards receiving the correct support for your child through intervention and support. The assessment helps both your child and the adults that work with them to have a deeper understanding of how they learn.

A full diagnostic report will be produced including recommendations for school and home. This service is £450 and includes the assessment time (around 3-4 hours) and the full report.

I will visit your child at school or your home to carry out the assessment.

An in-depth screening service is also available as a starting point. This screening is more detailed than screening carried out  at school. You will receive a short report, recommendations and an indication of dyslexia. The screening costs £100; if from there you wish to book a full assessment a £30 discount will be applied.

Dyslexia assessment

Lessons are taught individually. These lessons are pitched at wave 3 in the intervention pyramid (Rose Report 2009) and therefore would be suitable for children making little to no progress with regards to literacy after normal interventions have been put in place.

The lessons are highly individualised and are 1 hour  long.

The cost of the lesson is £45.

The lessons are based on ‘The Hickey Multi-Sensory Language Course’ , 'Alpha to Omega' and 'Conquering Literacy' plans which are widely used by specialist dyslexia teachers.

As part of each lesson your child will be practising a wide range of skills that will support their learning inside the classroom these include:

Alphabet arc, visual and auditory memory, understanding phonetic code, phonological awareness, reading, spelling, handwriting, sentence writing, punctuation and syllables.

This will be taught in a multi-sensory approach which helps foster links in the brain allowing the child to retain and recall what has been taught. The programme is very structured and cumulative which will allow for over-learning which is vital for learners with possible dyslexia. The learner will require a minimum of 20 lessons.

Training courses are offered for parents and educators. The courses are very hands on and interactive. Look out for upcoming events.

Bespoke training for schools is also available, please send an email detailing your school's requirements for a quote and more information.
